The month of December for Masons in New Jersey is busy and filled with Installations, parties, food, drink and merriment. As we celebrate the holidays with our loved ones, family and friends we also divide our time amongst the many lodges of our district, to support them during their installations. I am pleased that some of our officers and members were able to join me to travel and support the other lodges of our Glorious 5th Masonic District during this busy holiday season, and I would like this to continue throughout the ensuing Masonic Year.
During each of the installations our District Deputy Grand Master has announced the District appoints and re-appointments in the event of the election of our Deputy Grand Master, R.W. Gerald J. Sharpe to the office of Grand Master for our Grand Jurisdiction of New Jersey. Let us congratulate W. Bro. Angelo Caprio as well as our very own R.W. Valentin Basiga, Jr who will be appointed Grand Chaplain, R.W. Freddy R. Nunez, Jr and R.W. Roger Quintana who will be re-appointed our District Ritual Instructor and District Deputy Grand Master, respectively.
The above mentioned brothers, along with our past masters and past officers of our beloved Secaucus-Hudson Lodge have served and continue to serve our fraternity with freedom, fervency and zeal and embody what we want to emulate in our Masonic Life. Let us follow their examples and bring our lodge to ever greater heights by the things we do and the Masonic Life we lead. Every year we work in the quarries of our hearts and minds to be a better person, a better Mason. And this year I can say we have. But improvement of oneself does not stop when you reach a goal but continues.
And, as we near the close of another successful Masonic Year and get ready to usher in a new one. We have much to be thankful for. Our outgoing Secretary, R.W. Robert K. Pedersen has served our lodge for more than 15 years as Secretary and his shoes are large to fill. He is one of our Lodge Ritual Instructors and our past District Ritual Instructor and his efforts can be seen within our lodge and throughout our district.
Thank you for the work you have done and the work you will undoubtedly do. We congratulate our Junior Past Master, Freddy R. Nunez, Jr. who is also our Current District Ritual Instructor and his set of officers for a job well done this 2013 Masonic Year, and we see that we have our work cut out for us. We accomplished much, but we have much more work ahead of us this ensuing 2014 Masonic Year. Thank you for entrusting me the reigns of our lodge and I assure you, we will continue to work hard and improve ourselves as a person and as a Mason.
“Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.” – Calvin Coolidge
As Freemasons our compassion, charity and good will knows no bounds and as we celebrate this holiday season with our loved ones, family and friends we are reminded of those that have passed away and those that are separated from us by distance. We remember the good times and bad but more importantly we remember the times that we shared with all those that have touched our lives in one form or another. Let us continue to make this holiday season better by the compassion, charity and good will we show to our fellow man.
I wish you all a very happy holidays and an even more prosperous new year. May the Great Architect of the Universe Continue to watch over us all and guide our actions with all mankind especially the brethren…
W. Bro. Giovanni Lucero, Worshipful Master
